ABOUT THE FILM
The documentary film tells about the incredible and eventful creative path of photographer and artist Olga Michi, as well as about the art group ‘GrOM’ created by her. Olga Michi started her way in photography with extreme shoots, she travelled to the most remote corners of the world, constantly testing herself: she lived with African tribes, searched for cities lost in the South American jungle, photographed white sharks and swam in a river swarming with crocodiles. But at a certain point she became cramped within the framework of reportage photography, she wanted not just to reflect the world around her, she wanted to create her own. So, having found like-minded people – Alexey Loginov, a historian and researcher of photography, and Artyom Loginov, an art historian – Olga Michi founded the art group ‘GrOM’, which is now at the forefront of contemporary art of photography. Together the authors create monumental canvases at the intersection of photographic and computer technologies, experimenting with the possibilities of artificial intelligence, and raising in their works urgent and deep philosophical questions. What is man? What place will he occupy in the world of the near future? What is the path of humanity’s development and what are we missing? The characters of the film ponder over these and many other questions, but they, like any artist, do not give unambiguous answers, because a work of art, as you know, is only a springboard, and the viewer makes the jump.
In this film the authors will open the door of the backstage of their high-tech art, introduce us to the process of creating unseen fantastic worlds and show that a journey into the world of modern photography can be even more fascinating than a trip to an exotic country. And sometimes as exhilarating as swimming with crocodiles.
