We continue to fill January with interesting events! On 18 January at the Center of VisBéton within the framework of the exhibition ‘Japan. Another World’ exhibition will host a film screening of Akira Kurosawa’s film “Three Scoundrels in a Hidden Fortress” (1958).
This film is the least known of Kurosawa’s jidaigeki – samurai dramas. Meanwhile, The Three Scoundrels, winner of several international film awards, has had a major impact on contemporary culture. In particular, George Lucas created Star Wars with an eye on this Japanese adventure film.
The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film with Katerina Shuter, an expert on Asian cinema and author of the Asian Motifs tag channel. We will talk about samurai, how the philosophy of bushido is reflected in the film, and, of course, about Akira Kurosawa himself, who changed the world cinema.
