The film language is used by authors when they create films. But why would an ordinary moviegoer know about it? After all, films should be understandable to a wide audience that knows nothing about the film language?
Short answer: firstly, knowing the film language, you get much more pleasure from watching movies; secondly, the film language is much more widely used today than 10-15 years ago!
