The film language is used by authors when they create films. But why would an ordinary moviegoer know about it? After all, films should be understandable to a wide audience that knows nothing about the film language?

Short answer: firstly, knowing the film language, you get much more pleasure from watching movies; secondly, the film language is much more widely used today than 10-15 years ago!

A more extensive answer will be given by Kamill Akhmetov, screenwriter and writer, lecturer at the HSE Institute of Cinema and the Moscow School of Cinema, at a lecture to be held on October 23 at 19:00. You will hear about the history of the film language, how it was used in the 20th century and how it continues to develop today.
