The period of 1920-1930s is one of the brightest and most important periods in the development of not only national but also world photography. At this time photography goes through a number of stages of its development. At the lecture the main concepts of avant-garde, revolutionary innovations in the field of image construction will be considered on the example of famous authors. But such photography could not fulfil the tasks of power set before the masters of Soviet photography. Therefore, the search for new concepts to fulfil the tasks set by the party leads to the creation and further dominance of the method of socialist realism. The lecture will assess the contribution of these two trends to the development of Russian photography and media. The lecture is illustrated with rich visual material.
Lecturer: Alexey Loginov, art director of the Béton Exhibition Centre, historian of photography.
