As hundreds of years ago, they hunt and gather the gifts of the big trees. They pray to the spirits of the forest and teach their children to respect nature, taking from it only what is necessary for life. But gradually their traditional way of life changes under the onslaught of Big World culture.
Olga Michi Production, directed by Vadim Vitovtsev, had its world premiere at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, the oldest documentary film festival in North America. Today ‘In the Shadow of Big Trees’ is the winner of many awards at prestigious international film festivals.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with one of the film’s creators – the film’s producer, photographer Olga Michi.
