Béton Center of Visual Culture presents the art-project Future Dwelling.
The project by creative group GrOM reflects on what samples of civilization could look like, when humanity brings them with it to conquer new worlds.

The exhibition includes large-sized works that show the interiors of various spaces for different purposes, constructed according to the traditions and stereotypes of the most well known cultures. Beyond these interiors are seen landscapes of worlds that humanity has yet to incorporate into its ecosystem.

Despite the difference in function, cultural and stylistic aspects of the interiors, each of them contains an object reminiscent of Tatlin's tower with the sphere of the Earth above it. At the beginning of the 20th century, the tower was conceived by its avant-garde artist-creator as a monument to the Third International, as a symbol of workers' unification. At the beginning of the 21st century, the contemporary artists actualize the connotation of Tatlin's grandiose project, turning it in their works into a symbol of humanity's unity in the face of the conquest of the new worlds.

In constructing their utopia, the GrOM group took into consideration the traditions of the famous Düsseldorf school of photography. An important factor was not only the emphasis on the detailing of texture, but also the combination of the really existing objects with the fantastic elements. Some works are created with the use of Artificial Intelligence. By these means, the authors continue the discussion about how neural networks are changing the world of art, what challenge modern information technologies pose to artists, and will neural assistants help to rethink the art of photography? Is all this the inevitable future or a temporary fashion? The project demonstrates a balance between visual art and conceptual creativity, where the visual appeal of the works is inseparable from the depth of the questions and philosophical phenomena being explored.
