Béton Center of Visual Culture presents a group exhibition called "The World of Photoplane". Institution's first project will bring together works by Alexander Rodchenko, Max Alpert, Francisco Infante-Aran, Leonid Lazarev, Vaclovas Straukas, Alexei Vasilyev, Andrei Chezhin and others.

The exhibition will include author's prints many of which will be presented to the public for the first time.

At the very core of art lies an idea of possibility to create something new that goes beyond reality and offers alternatives to it. Photography has become a space for finding solutions to the contradiction between reality and fantasy, offering artists tools both for the literal representation of reality and for the visualization of artificial worlds. As a result of the progressive development of photography, the focus of the creative community has shifted: artists have focused on the properties of the flat image and the possibilities of human vision compared the "vision" of the camera.

"Photography of the second half of the twentieth century is associated by the most viewers with the shooting of an event. The Center's exhibitions will demonstrate new perspectives on the processes taking place in photography. For example, project "The World of Photoplane" illustrates the creative search of interesting forms inside the image that becomes main process for many artists. Creating such works, the author switches from fixation of the moment to the pictorial part of the work", - says Alexey Loginov, curator of Béton Center of Visual Culture.

Photography allowed us to draw attention to the fact that reality can look fundamentally different if we change the parameters of its perception and visual fixation. The world of the photographic plane, devoid of struggle, didactics and social morality as defining categories, the world of "art for art's sake" became an object of expression in the works of new-type artists.
