Béton presents the exhibition "Love and Eras of Change" by artists Valera and Natasha Cherkashins. Cherkashins witnessed the change of several eras. Every time they learned to live a new way not abandoning the passing era but tried to capture it in their works.

Artist is very sensitive to things that happen around him. When the communist era was passing away in late 1980s, Cherkashins realized that without the past there is no present or future and that they needed to treat their past with love, whatever it was. Later they realized that the idea of love runs through all their art, that there is no art without love and nothing at all...

The tragic time of perestroika was expressed in the project "The End of Era". Documentary footage was combined with newspaper documentaries, which themselves became part of the works. In the mid-1990s, Cherkashins began to travel extensively around the world, interested in other cultures. They were interested in imperial thinking and its manifestation in art. This was expressed in the projects "Mirages of the USSR" and "Mirages of Empires".

At the end of 1990s another important change in the world was taking place – the formation of European Union and, in particular, the transition to the euro. As a consequence, the loss of the cultural identity of a number of European countries. Cherkashins made a grand farewell to the portrait culture on European banknotes in the basin of the World Bank Headquarters.

Cherkashins have made more than 190 solo exhibitions and more than 300 actions and performances. On Russian television, as well as on foreign channels such as CNN, DeutscheWelle, the Italian Super Channel and others, there were more than 70 television programs featuring them.
