Almond Chu

A Chinese photographer and artist from Hong Kong known for his black and white photographs and large format conceptual works in color.

In 1983 he went to Tokyo, where he studied photography and fine art at the Tokyo College of Photography. During his studies in Japan he not only pursued his artistic needs, but also learned deeply about the theory and practice of "simplicity".

In 1993 he was awarded the Agfa Fellowship Young Photographer Award by Asian Culture Council and interned in New York. The same year he opened his own studio in Hong Kong and began working on artistic and commercial projects.

In the late 2000s Almond was known for his black and white photographs without computer processing. In the following years he began his conceptual series “Parade” in which he used digital techniques to edit photography and speed up his work on the project and to create an irreal phenomenon.

His exhibitions took place in various countries such as Germany, Italy, Denmark, Canada, Russia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand.
