The Grand Hall of the "Hermitage-Ural" center in Ekaterinburg opened the exhibition "Photomontage. Corrected Truth". The exposition tells about the history of photomontage of the 19th - 21st centuries.

The photo exhibition is divided into two main blocks: the second half of the 19th - late 20th centuries and the 21st century, including 2023. The first part presents works by Andrei Chezhin, Boris Smirnov, Evgeny Khaldey, Alexander Zhitomirsky, El Lisitsky, Boris Orlov, and Sergei Bugaev. These are photographic works on the topics of the political situation in the world and the achievements of the Soviet state, depicting tragic historical events.

The second part of the exposition includes works by contemporary authors who combine general cultural themes with the technical capabilities of the 21st century. It presents fashion photos by Olga Turbeluts and works by the art group GrOM, as well as photographic works made with the help of artificial intelligence.

The exhibit will run until December 3.

The project was created in collaboration with Moscow's Béton Center of Visual Culture. "Our center creates a collection of photographs from the first works of 1842 to contemporary works - spectacular, beautiful, large format. It is not only external beauty, but also conceptual attitude, content, themes", - said the art director of Béton, curator of the exhibition Alexey Loginov. He stressed the importance of the fact that the exhibition of photographs is located next to paintings in other halls of the "Hermitage-Ural" center. On September 30, Alexei Loginov will give a lecture entitled «Photomontage: Creative Possibilities».

Béton Center of Visual Culture opened in Moscow in April 2022. The main area of activity is the study and promotion of photographic art. Béton holds traveling exhibitions in museum spaces and galleries in Russia and around the world. Alexey Loginov emphasized that the center is engaged in artistic photography, where the viewer sees the world created by the photographer.
