The Novosibirsk State Art Museum (10 Sverdlova Street) has opened an exhibition of digital art by the artist Olga Michi and the GrOM creative group "Choosing a path". The exhibition features 39 works in total, which are divided into three projects and a multimedia installation that has managed to capture the attention of the young audience of the exhibition.

Digital works in our city can be seen not so often, and therefore a visit to the new exhibition in the Novosibirsk Museum of Art can be a great event!

For enhancing the effect of viewing the digital canvases, curators of the exhibition used dim light and spot lighting. Some of the works displayed at the Choice of Way exhibition are equipped with a QR code, so the viewer can independently "animate" the painting, focusing on the idea conveyed by the author.

"Choosing a path" is a result of creative analysis of complicated issues of modernity, where the author set a task to express attitude towards changes in the world around in an artistic form.

In "The Vulnerable" project works are devoted to the theme of preservation of African culture. Here the viewer finds himself in the midst of a global problem of choosing between the past and the future, dissociation and unity, diversity and unification.

The "Deity’s Likeness" project employs a variety of expressive media, which in multimedia synthesis provide an opportunity to understand 'what deity is' and how representations of deity are transformed by socio-cultural change.

Project "Future Dwelling", created by the creative group GrOM (an association of photographer Olga Michi, photography historian Alexey Loginov and art historian Artem Loginov) offers to look beyond today's everyday life to see how this or that choice of path can influence the appearance of the probable future.

"We are opening an exhibition of contemporary art. This is the vibrant digital art presented to us by Olga Michi and her creative partners. Those masks you see today have personally fascinated me a lot, and I hope that this exhibition will leave a lasting impression on you, and you will return here once again", deputy director of the NHM Yuri Yashkin commented on the opening.

According to Michi’s art director, this is the first time the authors have decided to show three projects in one exhibition.

"Choice of ways is actually three artist's views on that open future, where humanity has an opportunity both to preserve traditions of the past, and to create something incredible and new based on them," Maxim Kaveshnikov added.

The exhibition runs until 23 October 2022
